"A Red River Home"
With Humor

Ana and Booboo

These are some poems that I wrote just for the fun of it, they are supposed to be humorous, a little "tongue-in-cheek"...........................

The Incredible Bean

Crisp morning air so brittle
seems like the night time middle
thoughts scatter, teeth chatter
Till a warm cup of java brew
melts off an edge or two
steamy, melding, swirling ombre
my expression turns from somber
hands circling this cup of gold
sipping away the arctic cold
ready to face another day
starting out my usual way
my delicious cup of coffee.

FAST CARS

Gotta be red, green don't scream
boys and men and their fast cars.
Girls too, I know some do
they love those fast cars.

Passing everything that moves
burnt off their walking shoes
tire tracks up your backs
with their fast cars.

I've had many from truck to van
big ole hunking dark green sedan
mostly cruisers no hiway bruisers
nothing to beat those fast cars.

When I am 80, bald and crazy
going to buy me something sporty
fast and shorty, metal bullet
flash....... goes by,
out the corner of your eye,

Hey that's Ma in her fast car.

IT'S A CAT'S LIFE

They say what separates animal from man
s'not the length of his tail nor the size of his hand
tis the ability to reason, to sort out the facts
but my personal opinion its how he zips up his slacks.

You ever see a fox in a passionite embrace
or a squirrel who has to clean egg off his face?
Do monkeys have date books or pagers on hold,
if only they could reason then they might be more bold.

If our tails grew longer and we got down on all fours
ate from the cat dish, meowed behind closed doors,
if we slept on the couch and walked on the fence
We'd live like a cat and we'd never look tense.

So tis our ability to reason and sort out the facts
well, I wish I could snooze and let the cat do the tax.
