Hey, ........... well that is what we say down here in the South, not Hello, not Hi, but hey. And you don't have to live here very long before it becomes a comfortable greeting...

SO HEY!!

I was born in California, and lived there all my life. I had moved from the Northern part of California to the Southern part, Los Angeles, about 12 years ago..

In California, land is your major expense, the home is secondary. So to afford 5 acres of land anywhere, well let us just say that unless you have a lot of money, you might want to consider coming out to Louisiana yourself.

I came the first time to look at some land up by Jena, but family just wasn't sure they wanted to seel off their land to some girl from California, so the deal fell through. The problem, Grandma was still living on a corner of the property and I don't think they thought it would be a good idea to sell of Grandma to some wierdo from California. It was a lovely place, but there are many lovely places in Louisiana.

I came back a few months later for a Neville's Brother's concert at the Grand Casino, and fell in love with the land in Central Louisiana. To my way of thinking it is God's best kept secret this land in the South. For about a third of what you need to buy a home on a lot in California I was able to purchase 5 acres along the Red River, complete with a 100 year old home with cracks in the walls.

I moved out of California in May of 2000. And if it weren't for leaving all of my family in California, I would have NO regrets. But half of my children, my Mom and Brother are still there, so often I wish they were a little closer, or they liked to travel more.

So now I have two homes, one in Cartersville, Georgia, and one in Effie, LA. It takes some doing to keep up two yards, to keep up with two houses, and try and keep hummingbirds fed 600 miles apart, but so far, I am doing pretty good. The kids like both places, they each have wonderful and unique things to offer. One is in the woods, and the other is near the Bayou. It never gets dull.........and I get some very nice pictures as I travel back and forth.

waiting

It's a crape paper dream
with the raindrops its seen
swirl the colors into rapid confusion.

They lay wet on the skin
and the colds seeping in
making contentment just an illusion.

The butterfly hovers
his life to short to discover
finding rest to be just an intrusion.

Crisp starch in our spine
proudly we march down the line
securly placed fingers laced, our inclusion.

Came for the Blues, stayed for the food........

New Orleans has 4000 of the best chefs in the world all trying to outdo each other.......

The Avoyelles Grand Casino just because the Paragon Casino......... it was owned by the Tunica-Buloxi Tribe, don't know if it was sold, or just a name change.

Sunset of Another Day
---------------------

Crimson splashed across skies
purple cloak of night.
Sun put to slumber wrapped
in eves quilted softness.
Capture the moment
so fleeting, you blink
just one sweep of
soft lashes, eyes open
the curtain of fire
turns to cool embers
floating on seas,
azure, the color
of silence,
resting,
the end
of this,
another
day.
